And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.  ... Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.  John 14:16-17 & 16:13

The Spirit Teaching

Today we come to another thought given in the New Testament. The Holy Spirit is the Teacher of Biblical truth. If you learn anything from these messages that I send, you will only learn them as the Spirit teaches you. I am not the one who makes the truth alive in your heart. That is the work of the Holy Spirit. God’s word is alive (Hebrews 4:12), and it is the Spirit Who quickens the word in our hearts. Otherwise, we cannot understand it.

The Bible is a spiritual book: it requires the Spirit to make it known to us. He “guides [us] into all truth”. “He does not speak of Himself”, but “shows us the things of Christ”. He also shows us “things to come”. Everything we learn that is the truth of God, we learn from the Holy Spirit. That is why it is important for us to read our Bibles, and allow Him to minister to our hearts.

All I am able to do is to whet your appetite for Christ. Beyond that, I can do nothing. But the Spirit of God will reveal the Lord Jesus Christ to you, if you seek the truth.

(Daniel 10:11)
