The earth is the LORD'S, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein…. Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? … Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. …Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.  Psalm 24:1, 3, 7-8

The Plan

We should read the whole Psalm, but three things are clearly revealed in these verses. One, the LORD is Owner of the earth and its inhabitants. Second, those who love Him will enter the Holy City, and third, He will come to rule as King in His glory and might.

When He comes, He will settle the conflict that has been raging since the fall of man between the nations and the people.

Psalm 24 is a culmination of Psalm 22 and 23. All three Psalms are part of “The Plan”.

Psalm 22 is prophetic of the suffering Savior. It foretells His death on the cross for our sins, beginning with the same words he spoke at Calvary. “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?”. This psalm was written 1000 years before the crucifixion. At that time, crucifixion was unknown to man. There was no such form of punishment.

Psalm 23 tell us that the LORD is my Shepherd. He said, I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep” (John 10:11). These prophetic scriptures prove the veracity of God’s word and His promises. Therefore, we can be sure that Psalm 24 will also have its fulfillment.

In Psalm 24, the LORD comes as King of Glory to set up His Millennial Kingdom. The gates to the Holy City will open, and He will reign over the heavens and the earth.

Who will enter to serve with Him? His beloved Church, which has been cleansed by His own precious blood.

(Revelation 19:16)
