Bill
Powers, host on A Friend In The Night, started in radio in the 1970s and
has been in various aspects of broadcasting since then. At the same
time
he has been involved in several teaching ministries and
church music programs.
In the early 1990s God merged Bill's radio background with his love for teaching and
A Friend In The Night was born. The format is a blend of encouraging music with just enough talk to weave the songs into an uplifting half hour. "All of us get a little discouraged sometimes", Bill says, "but some people really struggle with the difficulties they face. We direct the program at
anyone who wants a boost, who needs to be reminded of God's grace, love, and mercy."
The program is usually aired in the evening and
night hours when rest eludes the racing mind. "Most of us probably
live at a faster pace than we should" Bill continues, "and nighttime
for the heart can come on us anytime - night or day. But the program aims
at helping us remain focused on The Lord Jesus who promises to stay closer than
a brother. As our relationship with Him grows we find that He is a real
friend who can be trusted to be with us even in the darkest hours of the
soul."
A Friend In The Night was first heard in West Virginia, and has slowly
grown into a small network of stations. Please see our station
list for current information.
